Grandma Kathy came into town and brought her Fairy wand with her! She always amazes me with how creative she is, how much energy she has, and how much she can get done in a day! She got here and emptied out here luggage and a good portion of it was decorations and things for the kids. haha!
We almost immediately began party prep by making cupcakes and decorating that night. Which was good that we did so it was a nice day and not stressful trying to get things done for an after school party.
She has a slumber party with the kids and lets them all sleep with her in the guest bed down stairs. So it is literally a week long slumber party! They love it.
Thursday was the twins birthday party.
Mom had all the decorations and craft ready and set up for the guests to arrive. We had a bit of confusion when I came to how many kids were coming because the girls told some people by word of mouth and some got invitations and some got neither. So we had planned for 12 girls including the twins, but had 16! It all worked out, some of them showed up late so the craft part wasn't as big as a problem as it could of been. Then we played games... Pin the shell on the Mermaid, Pictionary, and a seek and find game where the twins hid several fish, sea horses and star fish and all their friends scurried around and gathered them up.
We then had the girls open presents, then served dinner....Octopus hot dogs, goldfish and watermelon cut as a shark. which was the biggest hit of the night! Then after dinner the girls all went and played with the new birthday toys until their parents came to pick them up at 5:30. It went fairly quickly and was rather enjoyable.
Friday was a no school day and we hung out with the kids at home, She taught the girls to sew with embroidery thread, which they loved.
we were going to go bowling but they didn't open til 5:00, so mom took the kids bowling and to burger King for dinner while Joe and I went to the temple for our friends son who was getting his own endowments out.
Saturday we took the kids to Keokuk and went to the movies to see "Frozen" and saw the Eagle Days festivities. They had an "insect zoo" which the kids were really enthralled with.
Sunday was church and it was super nice to have grandmas help with that. as well as have a nice Sunday dinner together.
Monday mom took the kids to the children's museum and gave me a few hours to my self. Which most of the time I was preparing for my "New Beginnings" YW activity.
Tuesday kids went to school, mom cleaned up the house and organized my downstairs closets including my food storage. and I went to the church to set up New beginnings and then came home and helped mom finish up. Tuesday night I had my YW activity to go to , which turned out so great!
Came home to a clean house and kids in bed and got to spend time with my husband.
It was a great week and always goes by too fast!
